The Institute of Missionary Discipleship was established in August of 2018. The Institute was developed as a result of the Diocesan Priorities that were set by Bishop Paul Bradley to Foster Priestly Vocations, Activate Missionary Disciples, and Accompany Families toward Holiness. This Institute’s focus is to encourage the continued and active growth of faith among the Catholics of Southwest Michigan. Through this growth the Institute anticipates active evangelization of all people of Southwest Michigan. Our growth as a Diocese and as a Catholic community depends on numerous volunteers and staff. We offer opportunities for professional development as well as spiritual development so volunteers and staff can be certified in the ministries in which they engage or are interested in pursuing.
The logo is made up of the letters IMD. The I is in red and in a font that simulates a cross with blood pooling at the bottom. We know that we are disciples of Jesus who loved us even unto death. The M is in blue, first representing Mary who participated in Jesus' life as well as being united to the suffering of Jesus in the crucifixion in a unique way; second representing the water that poured from Jesus' side birthing the Church. Finally, the D represents all disciples who stand at the foot of the Cross learning from the master, just as John did at the crucifixion. We know we can not be a disciple without learning at the foot of the master, joining in His crucifixion, and being bathed in His death and resurrection.
